The Department of Food Technology, Engineering, and Nutrition reimagines and improves both products and processes in the food supply chain.

Several well-known food innovations have come out of the Department, e.g. Oatly and Proviva.

Subject description

Research within food focusing on plant based food with a special emphasis on processing and how the processing affects the food structure aiming to create innovative consumable products with low climate-impact.

 

Work duties

The work duties consists mainly of

  • Research within the subject area
  • Teaching in the first, second and third cycles of studies
  • Opportunity for training in higher education teaching and learning
  • Supervision of degree projects and doctoral students
  • Actively seeking external research funding
  • Collaboration with industry and wider society
  • Contact person at the department for external advice to industrial partners
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above

 

Since the department is heavily dependent on external funding, the work tasks may change over time.

 

Qualification requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Research experience within the subject of the position
  • Documented ability to attract research funding as main applicant as well as co-applicant. Granted research and innovation funding should cover at least 80% of the position the first 24 months
  • Competence within texture analysis

 

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

Training in higher education teaching and learning Leadership training

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
