Work duties

Data management and public deposition of research data has become increasingly mandatory in neuroscience and is generally important for research data integrity and a transparent research culture. We have therefore developed the Insectbrain database (insectbraindb.org) as an online platform for managing, depositing and sharing data from insect neuroscience. Our ongoing projects have generated large amounts of neuroanatomical, physiological and behavioral data from several insect species. A successful candidate will work towards integrating these data in the public insectbrain database repository. To this aim, the work will also include analyzing raw data from electrophysiological and anatomical experiments and transforming them into formats that can be visualized in the database. This work will also include aiding us in further developing this platform and its possibilities. This will involve documenting software bugs, development of application ideas, beta-testing of new functions, and streamlining of existing workflows. Additionally, the work will involve updating the software user guide, identifying ways to recruit active users, locate and upload new datasets, and to curate all existing data.
