Research Group
The Department of Laboratory Medicine is one of six departments at Lund University’s Faculty of Medicine. We conduct leading research, both broad and specialised, within the field of laboratory medicine, focusing on the onset of disease and how we can improve diagnostics and treatment for patients. Some of our strongest areas with world-class research deal with cancer, genetics and blood. The aim with the research at Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine is to identify health risks at work and from the surrounding environment, to eliminate or reduce these risks and prevent disease. The focus is on the following research areas: Working life and health; Environment and mental health; Environment and health effects early in life; Air, green environments, climate and health; Global environmental medicine; and New lifestyle factors and health risks. We successfully combine medical, epidemiological and technical-analytical competence in field studies and the use of bioinformatics, registers and biobanks.

Work duties
This position will include studies of chemical exposures in utero and risk of child cancer by using molecular and chemical methods in biobanked samples as well as epidemiological and registry studies. As a postdoc you will be involved in major steps of the project, i.e., planning, collecting data, data management, data analysis, and writing manuscripts. You will also be responsible for supervising doctoral and master’s student’s projects. Finally, you will also be involved in project management of the project.

Qualification requirements
Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the date of employment decision. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier.

Requirements
To be eligible, the candidate must have:

  • A PhD in any of following topics biomedicine, genetics, toxicology, biology, epidemiology, or similar research area
  • Experience of molecular laboratory work or working with molecular epidemiological studies or epidemiological studies.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills (English)
  • Independence and ability to cooperate 

Desirable
Merits are good knowledge in Swedish (writing and speaking).

Terms of employment
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of at least 2 years and at most 3 years The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow”) between Lund University, SACO-SandOFR/S, dated 1stFebruary 2022.
