Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

Research group
The Cell Reprogramming in Hematopoiesis and Immunity group studies how hematopoietic cell fate is specified, maintained, and eventually modified or reversed. Inspired from the fields of stem cell biology, immunology, and cancer we use an interdisciplinary approach to mechanistically understand hematopoietic and immune cell identities and translate our findings into novel gene and cell therapies. Our group is now recruiting a full-time project assistant that will work on the mechanisms underlying dendritic cell reprogramming during at least 1 year and at most 2 years. The group focuses on cell reprogramming, hematopoiesis, and the development of cell and gene immunotherapeutic strategies. You can read more about our research here .
We are a diverse group of molecular biologists, MDs, PharmDs, tumor immunologists, stem cell biologists and computational scientists – at all career stages. At the Pereira lab, we view science as an opportunity to have fun exploring the unknown, while making unique contributions to society. Our multidisciplinary approach gets inspiration from the fields of immunology, developmental biology, stem cells, cancer biology and bioinformatics, cross-fertilizing ideas and leading to new discoveries. This requires diversity and teamwork both within the lab and with our worldwide academic and industrial collaborators. We view cooperation and communication as the formula for great science and success, both as team and as individuals. The Pereira lab provides an environment where creative and highly motivated minds can strive.

Work duties
The successful applicant will work on the direct reprogramming of fibroblasts into dendritic cells type 1 (cDC1). The aim is to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying cell fate reprogramming of fibroblasts into cDC1 to devise strategies to improve its efficiency. This will require a multifaceted approach including mapping transcription factor binding sites by ChIP-sequencing, co-immunoprecipation analysis, chromatin analysis and mutagenesis. The successful candidate will also perform general laboratory organization and administration.

Qualifications
The following is required of applicants to this position:

  • A BSc in Molecular Biology or related field
  • Significant experience in cell culture and a BSL-2 laboratory setting
  • Experience in lentivirus production
  • Experience in flow cytometry
  • Knowledge of molecular cloning techniques
  • Ability to plan experiments, work independently in the lab, and keep an organized record
  • The ability to communicate well with co-workers and to collaborate with other scientists.
  • Excellent written and spoken English
