The Department of Food Technology, Engineering, and Nutrition reimagines and improves both products and processes in the food supply chain.

The employment includes participation in the research project VivoPak-ForHealth, with the aim to improve microbial hygiene and shelf life of leafy green vegetables and decrease the risk of pathogen establishment.

 

Work duties

The work duties include standardized and upscaled cultivation of probiotic bacteria and optimization of formulation for survival in packaging materials and performance of durability tests of the materials. The work duties also include laboratory assistance in teaching and collaboration with industrial partners. 

 

Qualifications

A master degree in Food Technology, Food Engineering or Biotechnology, alternatively in Horiculture, Plant Biology or corresponding merits. Very good knowledge and practical experience of basic microbiological methods, such as cultivation and isolation of bacteria. Very good oral and written proficiency in English. Experience of Next Generation Sequencing and associated bioinformatic data analysis. Experience of quantitative PCR. Knowledge within formulation and stabilization of microorganisms.

 

Other merits

Good oral and written proficiency in Swedish. Good knowledge in scientific writing. Pedagogical experience. Knowledge within texture analysis and durability tests of materials.

Great emphasis will also be placed on how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the scientific work and the research group in which the applicant will work within.
