Research group
The research group for the genetics of soft tissue tumors conducts research in which genetic changes that characterize different types of soft tissue tumors are identified, and the impact these changes have on the cell and patient level is clarified. The group is led by Professor Fredrik Mertens and consists of both research and technical staff. The business is located at the Biomedical Center in Lund. For more info about research read here.

Work duties
Bioinformatic analysis of genomic and transcriptomic data from liposarcomas, myxofibrosarcomas and undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcomas. Guiding/teaching/helping PhD-students and other coworkers with regard to the analysis of data from massive parallell sequencing.

Qualifications
Following is required for the position

A Master degree in bioinformatics.
A PhD in a relevant subject (MPS-based studies of neoplasia).
Previous hands-on experience from MPS-based studies, including work in programming languages R and Python.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Desirable

Documented experience (publication, first author) of MPS-based analysis of sarcoma.
Documented experience (publication, first author) of epigenetic studies of neoplasia.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal characteristics. The assignments require that you have the ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Terms of employment
Temporary position, fulltime for 1 year with startdate 2022-08-01 or according to agreement.
