Permanent position as Senior Lecturer in Tumour Virology at the Department of Translational Medicine
Tumour virology as a subject
Tumour virology is the study of the link between virus and tumour development, the cellular and molecular understanding of how viruses cause the development of tumours and cancer, and its relationship to disease mechanisms.
Work duties
The position aims to strengthen and bridge strategically important research in the fields of medical tumour biology and virology, which have a strong tradition at the Department of Translational Medicine. The holder of the position will be located at the Faculty of Medicine’s Malmö campus and is expected to link up with the activities of the Virology Centre currently under construction at Lund University.
The holder of the position is expected to develop and establish a new line of research in the field of tumour virology with an experimental focus, which can interact with existing research at the department and faculty in the following areas: clinical virology, systems virology, microbiology with a focus on virus-host interactions, infection immunology, and tumour biology.
The position will be an important bridge between basic research and clinical translational research, the latter being of great importance in several areas, including clinical microbiology, infection and oncology within Region Skåne.
The position is also intended to strengthen both preclinical and clinical activities at first, second and third-cycle levels. The duties also include management and administration. Other duties may also arise.

The applicant is to demonstrate current research of high international standard, including publications as the senior author. Furthermore, the applicant is to have deep knowledge of the field of virology as a whole, at both the cellular and molecular levels. The applicant should also have proven experience in experimental tumour virology models, methods and issues.

The applicant should also show proven leadership ability, capacity for collaboration and demonstrated ability to interact with wider society. Completed leadership/managerial training is desirable. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
Teaching staff at Lund University are required to be suitable for the position, and have the general ability to perform their duties well.
