Position

A permanent position as senior lecturer in diabetes, with a focus on translational diabetes research and/or nutrition research. The position is currently based at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Malmö.

Duties

The Department of Clinical Sciences in Malmö is looking for a senior lecturer who can help advance and promote translational diabetes research, including diabetes complications, and/or nutrition research. We are looking for a candidate with an independent research profile and someone who is internationally recognized in their field.

Duties include research and teaching, as well as participating in management activities at the Faculty of Medicine. The successful applicant will also be expected to perform the departmental duties usually associated with a senior lecturer appointment, that is administrative duties, internal and external commissions of trust and duties related to representing Lund University and the specific research area on the national and international arena.

If the successful candidate lacks five weeks training in teaching and learning in higher education at the time of appointment, their work duties will include completing this training within the first two years of employment.

Other duties may also arise as part of the position.

Qualifications

According to Section 4, Chapter 4 of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 1993:100), a person qualified for appointment as a senior lecturer has demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or has the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve. 

The applicant must have completed at least five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way, unless there are special reasons for exemption from this requirement. (see Lund University appointment rules).

Assessment criteria

The applicant should have demonstrated research and teaching expertise related to the subject in question. When assessing applicants, particular importance will be placed on scientific capability. The applicant should have demonstrated his/her scientific capabilities by maintaining a high national and international standard as a researcher. Further, the ability to secure national and/or international funding is also meritorious. Ongoing national and international research collaborations will also be considered very important.

The applicant should have demonstrated pedagogical expertise both when teaching and when supervising  at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate level. Furthermore, the ability to supervise doctoral students and administrative skills will be considered important. Demonstrated leadership skills, collaborative skills and the ability to interact with the surrounding community will also be assessed.
