Subject description

The subject deals with mathematical models for random 
phenomena, something that is of great importance for 
university and civil engineers. The position is mainly 
located on the Helsingborg campus but teaching on the Lund 
campus may also be included in the position.

Work duties
The main task of a university lecturer is teaching at the 
basic and advanced level in the subject of mathematical 
statistics and its development. The tasks also include
competence development and other departmental work in 
accordance with an agreement or collective agreement.

The tasks include
• Teaching at basic level and advanced level.
• Supervision of bachelor and degree workers.
• Administration linked to the tasks above.
• Work with overall issues concerning the development and 
renewal of the university and master's engineering programs' 
courses in mathematical statistics.

Qualification requirements 
Appointment as a lecturer requires that the applicant has:
- Completed a second-cycle degree or acquired corresponding knowledge and has 
other skills of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it 
will involve.
- Demonstrated teaching expertise.
- Completed five weeks of training in higher education teaching and 
learning or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means.

Additional requirements:
- Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
- Very good oral and written proficiency in Swedish.
- Ability to engage and enthuse students, create challenges, and 
provide support, all to achieve optimal study results.
- Create good relationships and be able to communicate as needed, 
both with students and colleagues.

Assessment criteria
For appointments to lecturer, the following shall form the assessment criteria:
-  Good subject knowledge of relevance to the post and the duties it will 
involve.
- Good teaching ability including a good ability to develop and pursue
teaching and other educational activities on different levels and using a 
variety of teaching methods.

Other assessment criteria:
- Subject-related doctoral degree and / or research.
- Experience of supervising projects and / or essays.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and 
independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and 
strengthen the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future 
development.

Conditions
Temporary full-time employment for up to 2 years starting on 
2022-08-01
