2 Research posts in history for project applications

We are now seeking 2 researchers to write research applications with the aim to strengthen the research environment in the Wallenberg Academy Fellow (WAF) project Ukrainian Long-Distance Nationalism in the Cold War led by Associate Professor Per Anders Rudling. The WAF project are funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation and located within the Subject of History at the Department of History.
The positions are full-time for three months, with the first day of employment on 1 October 2022, at the latest. The positions are linked to one of the two specialisations below. Applications are to clearly indicate the position being applied for. The aim is to make one appointment in each specialisation. The research applications will generally be directed at Riksbankens jubileumsfond’s and the Swedish Research Council’s calls for applications for project grants in the spring of 2023, however, there may be other relevant funding bodies, and, in this case, they are to be specified. Any external funds awarded as a result of the applications written within the scope of the positions are expected to be allocated to the Subject of History at Lund University. If the applicant holds a position at another department, a certificate from the head of department is required confirming that any external funds awarded can be allocated to the Department of History, Lund University.
The positions are linked to the project Ukrainian Long-Distance Nationalism in the Cold War, which focuses on the understanding of history, memory and policy in Eastern and Central Europe after 1989. The project aims to make specific contributions to the research on the interaction between the use of history in post-socialist Europe and its diasporas.
Qualification requirements
Appointment to a position as a researcher requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, completed no more than five years before the application deadline. Under special circumstances – parental leave, illness or similar – the PhD may have been completed earlier. A certificate supporting these reasons is to be submitted with the application.
If the applicant’s native language is not a Scandinavian language, very good and documented English language skills are required.
Special consideration will be given to applicants with a PhD (or equivalent) in a subject with a specialisation in history.
Assessment criteria
Applicants must have academic qualifications and a good ability to develop and carry out research of high international quality within the aforementioned research fields. A documented ability to obtain external research funding is an additional qualification. An additional qualification is that the applicant has knowledge of Eastern European languages. Assessments are made based on the documentation received and a potential interview.

No publications are to be attached to the application. At a later stage of the process, the applicant may be asked to submit the five most significant publications (including the PhD thesis).
N.B. The applicant is responsible for ensuring that the application is complete in accordance with the instructions above and that everything is scanned (as an attached PFD file) and submitted to the University by the application deadline.
