The Centre for Language and Literature announces a vacancy for a 75% fixed-term lecturer position in Yiddish. The position begins 1 August 2022 and ends 30 June 2023.

Candidates for the position of lecturer must meet the following requirements.

- Received a second-cycle degree (or equivalent) and possesses other qualifications relevant to the subject matter and duties of the post.

- Demonstrated expertise in teaching skills.

- Completed higher education pedagogy training or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge during at least five weeks.

Exemptions from the requirement for higher education pedagogy training may be made when considered justified in the light of other qualifications.

The position includes 70% teaching, 5% continuing professional development, 5% administration and 20% course development (expressed as a percentage of the position's total duties).

The position includes course development, teaching and examination of the following Yiddish courses. All courses are given in English and are distance learning courses:

HT 2022
YIDD11. Yiddish: Course I, 15 credits
YIDA11, Yiddish: Course I for Teachers, 15 credits

VT 2023
YIDD12, Yiddish: Language and Literature, Course II, 15 credits
YIDA12, Yiddish: Course II for Teachers, 15 credits

The basis for assessment is good subject knowledge, good teaching skills and use of varied teaching methods as well as a general ability to carry out the duties of the position well and personal suitability.

Requirements for the position are very good knowledge of both English and Yiddish.

Previous experience with distance learning, teaching similar courses (especially courses relevant to Yiddish teacher training, YIDA11 and YIDA12), and language-teaching didactics and/or other modules relevant to Yiddish teacher training are all useful qualifications for this position.
