The Communications Group at MAX IV at MAX IV consists of a Head of Communications, two communications officers and a webmaster. The group is responsible for supporting both internal and external communication with tasks such as news reporting, social media presence, newsletters, maintenance and development of maxiv.se, and outreach to schools and the public.

MAX IV are looking for an Outreach Officer
You lead the outreach effort of MAX IV and be responsible for events, school activities, guiding visitors and coordination of visits. You will support and educate our team of student guides as well as develop pedagogical learning materials aimed at schools and the public. You will collaborate with the rest of the team to contribute to social media and web content.

Your main work tasks will be

• Project lead the yearly MAX IV Open Days event – around 2000 visitors, 1–2 days in the summer.
• Coordinate outreach activities aimed at schools and the public, involving cooperation with our partners.
• Oversee and develop our exhibitions.
• Develop and write pedagogical science communication material.
• Guide visitor tours at MAX IV.
• Lead and educate the group of student guides – around 10 students helping with visits and events.

To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

• University degree in natural sciences or similar experience.
• Fluent in Swedish and English, written and spoken.
• Proven experience as project leader for larger events.
• Proven experience as a writer.

Below are seen as merits

• Pedagogical or didactic background as a teacher or similar.
• Work experience in a research-based environment.
• Experience with illustration and/or graphical design.
