Automatic Control is an exciting and broad subject, covering both advanced mathematics and hands-on engineering. Historically, it has been instru-mental in many areas, from the early development of telecommunications to the space race. Today, driven by the need to engineer ever larger systems, Automatic Control is more relevant than ever.
We are now recruiting PhD students. Among other projects there is one which specifically is recruiting: Dynamic Manipulation and Grasping Control for Contact Tasks, where the doctoral student will work in the intersection of the areas of machine learning, robotics and automatic control emphasizing in combined solutions for robotic manipulation and grasping for contact-rich tasks, and adaptive and learning-based approaches for control. Another project lies in the intersection of optimization and machine learning with a theoretical focus. It will in particular focus on algorithms for deep learning their generalization properties.
