Researcher in project about cancer related pain - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The current position is attached to a three-year project titled, Cancer-Related Pain and Associated Difficulties: Using Ecological Momentary Assessment and N-of-1 Trial Methods to Adapt and Pilot Test an Internet-Delivered CBT Program Based on the Psychological Flexibility Model of Chronic Pain, which has been funded by the Swedish Cancer Society (Grant ID: 21 1880 Pj, Projekt). The project involves the adaptation an existing, pain-focused, internet-delivered cognitive behavioural treatment program (iCBT), based on the psychological flexibility model, for use specifically with adults suffering from cancer-related pain, and testing the acceptability and efficacy of the treatment in innovative N-of-1 designs, in preparation for a larger randomized controlled trial.

Tasks and areas of responsibility

•  Collaboration with the investigators, including a PhD student, and the relevant stakeholders (cancer survivors, oncology/primary care services, Regional Cancer Centre-South) to adapt an existing pain-focused, internet-delivered cognitive behavioural treatment program (iCBT), based on the psychological flexibility model, so that it will be acceptable to, and suitable for, adults with persistent cancer related pain
• Collaboration with the investigators/implementing partners to plan and undertake N-of-1 clinical trials to investigate treatment acceptability/efficacy;
• Management of the N-of-1 treatment trials, including: co-supervision of the PhD student and any other research assistants/clinicians working on the trials; preparation of the trial protocol, recruitment, inclusion, management of participant contacts during the trial, supervision of trial assessors and therapists, outcome/safety monitoring, data management and statistical analyses; assisting in the preparation of articles (written in English) for submission to peer-reviewed scientific journals
• Preparation and presentation of oral and poster communications of the study in national and international scientific events.

Experience required

• Completed training in clinical psychology equivalent to Masters’ level or above, with post-qualification experience (supervised) delivering cognitive behavioral therapy, preferably Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) or related interventions to adults with mental health problems.
• Certification/licensure as a clinical (practicing) psychologist in Sweden or another EU country.
• A PhD in psychology, with the doctoral studies being focused on factors influencing mental health and well-being, preferably factors from or overlapping with those identified in the psychological flexibility model.
• Evidence of post-PhD experience carrying out collaborative research in the relevant topic area and including: work as part of a research group outside the university in which the applicant completed their PhD; the design and carrying out of studies to evaluate the acceptability and efficacy of interventions based on CBT (and preferably psychological flexibility model/ACT), in both face-to-face and digitally delivered formats; carrying out statistical analyses suitable to summarising the results of clinical trials in peer-reviewed scientific journals; (co)authorship on several scientific articles, published in international peer-reviewed journals after completion of the PhD, and on topics of relevance to the current program of research (e.g., psychological flexibility and mental health/well-being; clinical trials of face-to-face and digitally-delivered CBT/ACT based interventions for mental health difficulties, and preferably pain).
• Post-PhD experience supervising other researchers carrying out research in relevant areas, including psychology students at the PhD level.
• Good communication skills (oral and written) in English.

Terms of the employment

Employment in the research project 100% starting 2022-09-01 or by agreement. When the employment financing ends after 3 years, the employment will be reviewed and a process for termination the employment due to lack of work might take place.

As a researcher, it is possible to conclude an agreement that enables 40% remote work per week, if the activities and tasks allows it.
