At the Department of Informatics there is pioneering research and business collaboration. We have an attractive undergraduate education providing our students advantageous academic degrees for working life or postgraduate education. The department announces one position as research assistant. The position is at 50%, fixed-term for five months and is placed at the Department of Informatics, LUSEM.

Project Description

In this project we focus on understanding an unexplored phenomenon that targets cyber-risks from the perspective of the expansion of free digital services and the loss of privacy. We present this as a dilemma with the intention to develop a theoretical and an empirical study envisioned to produce innovative results. We envision that our research can generate interesting results that can influence both the government and business sector to raise awareness among individual, society and the industry about the consequences of cyber-risks that the “free service and loss of privacy” dilemma has generated.

Work responsibilities

Your work will focus on contributing to the following tasks:

  • Data Collection, Data Preprocessing and Data Exploration
  • Applying mixed-methods on an IS-related phenomenon focusing on data privacy and security.
  • Developing a theoretical framework.
  • Designing and evaluating methodological tools, like interview guides and surveys.
  • Applying analysis tools for mixed-methods like SPSS and open/axial/selective coding.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this specific position, the applicant must have:

  • Completed a Master’s thesis in Information Systems.
  • Used theories and methods that have led to a development of a working framework for understanding IS-related phenomena.
  • Skills in quantitative methods such as SPSS as well as qualitative methods such as structured coding for understanding text (e.g. interviews), which are important to accomplish the tasks within the project.
  • Experience with big data, data mining, machine learning and data modeling, in order to capture latest developments in the field of security and privacy practices in organisations from the focus of IS areas such as: IT innovation, sustainability, and strategic management.

The following are meritorious for the position:

Knowledge and use of IBM Watson to optimize the analysis of qualitative data. Knowledge about Artificial Intelligence and its potentials.
