System developer with a focus on web interfaces and applications

Description of the workplace
Lund University Humanities Lab is an interdisciplinary research infrastructure for the entire Lund University but is located at the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology. More information about the lab can be found on www.humlab.lu.se

HUMINFRA is a national research infrastructure in the humanities and social sciences. HUMINFRA is led by the Humanities Lab in Lund and comprises 12 universities and organizations across the country with expertise in e-scientific / digital materials, research tools and experimental methods for the humanities. HUMINFRA aims to create a web-based information platform that compiles and links to existing Swedish data collections, tools, expertise and educational opportunities in the humanities; create new national courses in e-science / digital methods for the humanities; prepare Swedish membership in the European Consortium for Cultural Heritage Data, Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities (DARIAH-EU); and disseminate knowledge about these methods and tools to researchers and other societal actors and create new opportunities for collaborations.

HUMINFRA is now looking for a skilled and energetic systems developer to createon a web based information platform (WIP). The work is conducted in collaboration with the operational management group for HUMINFRA, which consists of a director (LU), deputy director (UmU), a node coordinator (CDH-GU), and a national coordinator for DARIAH-SE (LnU). Other support functions for the operational management team are administrator and economist. 


Work duties and areas of responsibility

The tasks include leading the development of a web-based information platform (WIP) that compiles and links to existing digital / e-scientific resources and educational opportunities in Sweden. The web platform will also continuously link and integrate Swedish resources into international ones via a Swedish membership in the European consortium Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities (DARIAH-EU). The platform will create a common entrance towards relevant resources and tools for Swedish humanists and fulfill an important function as an external window for Swedish humanities research both nationally and internationally, towards the research community, and towards external international actors.

The tasks include designing, developing, testing and maintaining the information platform itself, monitoring and managing incoming data, taking into account secure handling of potentially sensitive data, and collaborating with the operational management team and the nodes' members on the development of the platform. Work on presenting the platform in English and Swedish in various scientific contexts in speech and writing can also occur.

Requirements for employment are:
The applicant

  • must have documented experience of design and web platform development
  • must have a documented problem-solving ability
  • must be able to communicate well in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
  • must have a post-secondary degree in an area relevant to the position.
  • should have experience of web platform development for academia and or government agencies.

 

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  • experience working both independently and in collaboration with other personnel functions
  • flexibility and pedagogical ability (preferably documented) are also a merit since the work requires collaboration with researchers with different levels of knowledge
  • attention to detail and accuracy is vital since the applicant will work with research and research data.
