Sociology of law is looking for a project assistant with a special focus on collective legal mobilisation. Legal mobilisation is a growing research field in Sweden and other Nordic countries that interests several researchers at the Department of Sociology of Law at Lund University. The concept of legal mobilisation is a comprehensive umbrella term to express the dynamic interaction when law is used by different movements or interest groups, for political and social change.
Research on legal mobilisation addresses fundamental questions about the relationship between law and society as well as current societal challenges around equality, access to justice, human rights, distribution of resources, power and juridification, the legal profession. Research on legal mobilisation also offers good opportunities to develop cooperation between sociologists of law and civil society, to identify new co-creative arenas involving transnational knowledge production and to act transformative.
The applicant will work on a research review in the field of legal mobilisation, draft research proposals in the field, participate in meetings at the department to advance the issue and document these, identify possible partners in the surrounding community.
Requirements:
Master's in Sociology of Law or equivalent
Applicants should have the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated skill in working with research reviews (for examples in their masters thesis).
- Proven experience in qualitative empirical research in the field of sociology of law, with an emphasis on legal mobilisation.
- Proven ability to use sociological tools of analysis of law and critical social science theory.
