Work duties
The overall aim is to replace metal complexes containing noble metals as photosensitizers with metal complexes of Earth-abundant metals. Design, synthesis and characterization of iron-based metal complexes based on, among other things, N-heterocyclic carbene ligands. Both organic and inorganic synthesis will be developed to be developed for the purpose. Characterization of the metal complexes with different spectroscopic methods and above all with X-ray crystallography. Studies of the physical properties of metal complexes will be carried out.

Qualification requirements
Applicants must have:  

  • A PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position.
  • Extensive experience in synthesizing iron-carbene complexes.
  • Extensive experience of being able to practically solve X-ray structures.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Research experience in the subject area.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment
This position is a fixed-term employment, between September 1, 2022, and August 31, 2023. The scope of the employment is full time.
