Description of the workplace 
The department of Electrical and Information Technology at Lund University, faculty of Engineering, is one of the larger departments with about 120 employees. We are located on LTH campus in the northern part of Lund, Sweden, and conduct research and education in areas such as electronics components, electromagnetism, analog and digital integrated circuits, wireless communications, communication systems, Internet applications, and cyber security. At the department we have a substantial laboratory activity, with one research laboratory within electronics circuit systems and wireless communications, and one within 5G and 6G networks and applications. Within the laboratory part mainly targeted at circuit systems and wireless communications, we currently work at radio frequencies up to tens of GHz and has an ongoing work to upgrade to mmWave frequencies.

As a research engineer you are part of the department technician group, responsible for the technical maintenance and development in both undergraduate education and research. We have many international employees and guests, and English is used on a daily basis.

Work duties 
We are looking for a research engineer mainly for electronics applications and circuit board design. You will work in our laboratory environments for both research and undergraduate education. You will have the overall responsibility for our undergraduate education laboratory environment. Some teaching related duties may also be included in the duties. The duties may change over time.

The duties include:

  • Development and manufacturing of circuit boards and systems for research and undergraduate education purposes, handling of technically advanced equipment for this, and responsibility for our component storage.
  • Assistance in the research laboratory with electronics construction and setups.
  • Overall responsibility for laboratory premises and equipment for undergraduate education
  • Together with the other technical staff, be responsible for the physical infrastructure at the department.
  • Some computer support will occur, such as purchase and maintenance.

Qualifications  
Required qualifications for the position are:

  • Documented technical education in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of electronic systems design for both digital and analog applications.
  • Good knowledge of CAD and PCB manufacturing for digital and analog applications.
  • Good ability to express yourself in English both orally and in writing.

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  • University education in engineering, preferably Masters level.
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing.
  • Experience with high frequency instruments, especially spectrum analyzer and network analyzer
  • Knowledge of RF electronics design.
  • Work experience in relevant areas.
  • Ability to take personal responsibility and to work individually as well as in a group.
  • Experience of teaching at university level.
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing.

The employment is for a permanent position with a scope of 100 percent of full time, starting as soon as possible or by agreement.
