Research group
Pediatric nephrology in which diseases studied cause renal failure in children and adults.
The group is composed a principal investigator, Diana Karpman, a research technician, three senior researchers, three PhD students, a post-doc and one masters student. The project is carried out at BMC and in the animal house.

Work duties
This is a PhD project focusing on disease mechanisms associated with E. coli O157:H7 infection and the development of novel treatment strategies using in vivo and in vitro models.
The work will include laboratory basic research using in vivo and in vitro methods.
The project includes work with a mouse model, immunological methods, blood cells, tissue histology, immunofluorescence, microscopy and proteomics. 

Qualification and requirements
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in a relevant subject such as biomedicine, biology, genetics, molecular biology, microbiology or biochemistry
- Experience with laboratory animal work
- Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written
- Interest in basic science
- The ability to handle stress
- Patience and perseverance

Additional requirements:
- Participation in conferences
- Experience of work with infection models in animals
- Laboratory experience

Other
The department of pediatrics is now looking for a doctoral student for an employment limit of tenure, four years according to HF 5 kap 7§. Desired start date is the 1 of November 2022 (or as agreed).

Eligibility
Students with basic eligibility for third-cycle studies are those who- have completed a second-cycle degree- have completed courses of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are from second-cycle courses, or- have acquired largely equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad.

The employment of doctoral students is regulated in the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhD-studies shall primarily be taken into account. In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.
