Description of the workplace

Construction robotics is a topic that is gaining increased research attention in both academia and industry, and so also at Lund University where this is expanding in terms of new and upcoming projects. In the field of construction robotics, ongoing projects currently investigate adaptation of automation solutions for the field, as well as digital support for such solutions.

Work duties

The work involves development on existing robot prototypes for construction tasks. It also involves development of digital tools and processes for construction automation.

Work duties include:

  • Experimental research in construction robotics
  • Teaching in robotics at undergraduate level
  • Supervision of Master thesis workers
  • Contribute to research grant applications
  • Networking with industry
  • Administration related to duties above

Qualifications  

Required qualifications for the position are:

  • A PhD within the subject of the position
  • Experience from coordinating research projects
  • Experience from developing robot structures in novel application domains
  • Experience in collaborative work using industrial robots
  • Experience in industrial robot safety
  • Advanced CAD knowledge
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English. 

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  • Education: mechanical engineering, industrial automation
  • Experience in product development
  • Knowledge about robotics standards
  • Very good experience in working with SolidWorks and ABB RobotStudio
  • Good programming skills in ABB Rapid, Matlab and C#
  • Good experience in dissemination of research results

Further information

The employment is a fixed-term employment until 2023-01-31 at 100 % or agreed upon terms. Preferred start date October 2022 or by agreement.
