About the workplace:

The International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) is an international and interdisciplinary centre of excellence at Lund University. We advance knowledge on how to catalyse the transition to low-carbon and resource efficient economies across different levels of governance and management. We conduct research across the themes of international and national policy intervention, urban governance and experimentation, business management and practice, and consumption governance.

Subject description

Today’s electricity grid is not designed to meet the new requirements of increased use of intermittent energy (such as photovoltaics) and increased demand. A smart grid needs to be developed that can deliver low-carbon electricity more efficiently and reliably, at the same time as it recognising and streamlining consumer demand for electricity. In this process, consultancies are important knowledge brokers and intermediaries. The energy practices of professionals and end-users are also important. In this position, there is a special emphasis on social practices, intermediaries and professional actors and perceptions of barriers and drivers to achieving a smart grid.

Work duties

The position involves teaching, research and administration.

The candidate will carry out teaching and research and must be familiar with theories of social practices, intermediaries and middle-out perspectives, as well as relevant methodologies related to the study of barriers and drivers for the implementation of renewable technologies. Teaching at IIIEE is interdisciplinary and applied and is conducted both remotely and on-site. The candidate is expected to teach in IIIEE’s courses and in English.

Qualification requirements

Appointment to a Lecturer position requires

  • that the applicant has a completed a degree at advanced level, or has other knowledge or skills deemed equivalent and relevant to the subject and the duties of the position.
  • demonstrated teaching ability
  • five weeks' higher education course or equivalent knowledge acquired by other means, unless there are special reasons.

Additional requirements:

  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in Swedish
  • - Demonstrated experience in conducting and analysing interviews, writing reports and compiling research in the energy field

Assessment criteria

  • Good knowledge of subjects relevant to the content of the position and the duties involved
  • A good ability to develop and conduct high quality research.
  • Good pedagogical skills, which means good ability to conduct and develop teaching and other pedagogical activities at different levels and with varied teaching methods.

Other qualifications:

  • Documented experience of working independently, develop own research networks and write academic articles with high quality
  • Documented experience of working interdisciplinary and in collaboration with other researchers
  • Good experiences of working with students from several nationalities

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

The position is expected to start 2023-05-01 or according to agreement and is a permanent position.
