Work duties
The main motivation of this project is to quantify the responses in regional climate regime and terrestrial ecosystem induced by large-scale solar panel installations in Nordic countries. The main objectives are:

  • 1) To quantify how massive solar panels in Nordic countries can exert the impacts on the atmospheric circulations, extreme weather, vegetation distribution and associated terrestrial carbon cycling by performing regional climate model
  • 2) To understand the mechanisms that control the interaction processes of coupled atmosphere-terrestrial ecosystem regarding solar farms.

 Qualifications
A person meets the general admission requirements for this project if he or she:

  • has a bachler’s degree in climate/ecosystem science
  • has previous experience on running a Regional climate model (eg. WRF, RCA-GUESS)
  • has good knowledge and skills in programming (eg. NCL, CDO)
  • data analysis a publication record on related topics will be a plus

Other merits
Special attention is paid to the following:

Participated in related projects about solar/wind energy.
Experience with Linux based super computer platform is a merit.

Consideration will also be given to i.e. good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the administrative work within the unit/department, as well as contribute to its future development.

 

Terms of employment

Fixed-term employment for 6 months

The scope of the employment: full time (salary level equivalent to first-year PhD)
