Software developer/system operation support at INES/ICOS Carbon Portal
ICOS Carbon Portal is hosted by the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Sciences and is part of ICOS, the Integrated Carbon Observation System that provides high quality long-term measurements of greenhouse gas exchange from about 140 stations distributed over more than 14 countries and the ocean. Those environmental observations form the foundation for essential research on climate change and its consequences. The Carbon Portal takes care of the open access to all the ICOS high-quality and standardised greenhouse gas data, as well as to scientific and educational products produced by our scientific users. Carbon Portal also (co-)develops web services for the user community that support the scientific exploration of the data.

Work duties
We are looking for a software developer who can also support the operations. You will be part of our small development team and work on the core Carbon Portal services as well as support running these services. You can get a good idea of the technologies and the (open source) modern codebase that we are working with through our GitHub site (https://github.com/ICOS-Carbon-Portal).

Qualifications
We are looking for a service minded person who will work both in software development as well as in operations. You have at least worked a couple of years in IT and experience with software development. You are keen to use and learn exciting new web development technologies, all for use in a fact finding mission in the battle to combat climate change. You are a team member with good collaborative skills, but balance this with drive and independence. You are willing to build upon and improve the existing mature codebase. Our international group and work area requires that you are fluent in written and spoken English. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
