Description of the workplace

At the research group for Virus Recognition we conduct research in the field of humoral immunity against enteroviruses. The research has been at the forefront of the field of immunology for several years. The group is led by Associate Professor Katharina Lahl. We are hereby looking for a driven post doctor to work within viral intestinal infection in neonates. The employment is 24 months full-time with the desired starting date on 01-01-2023 or by agreement.

Work duties and areas of responsibility

As a post doctor within the research group, you are responsible for working with studies regarding the role dendritic cells play in the initiation of humoral immunity against rotavirus. Your duties include mainly infection experiments with rotavirus in mouse models in vivo and flow cytometry. Major focus will be on analysis of multicolor flow cytometric data. Other tasks within the research group may also be relevant. 

Qualifications 

Requirements for employment are:
- PhD in Immunology

- Several years of research experience in the field of cellular immunology

- FELASA certificate

- Several years of experience in performing in vivo neonatal infection experiments using mouse models

- Documented experience in writing scientific articles for publication

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The duties require that you can run the project independently and work well in a group.

Additional qualifications for the position are

- Ability to inject mice orally, intraveneously and intraperitoneally

- Ability to employ multi-colour flow cytometry to identify subsets of immune cells (> parameter)

- Ability to characterize humoral immune responses using ELISA and ELISpot

- Several years of experience in colony maintenance of transgenic mice

- Documented success in funding acquisition for projects and conference travel

This is a fixed term postdoctoral position for 24 months with a scope of 100% with desired start date 01-01-2023 or by agreement.

Eligibility
Appointment to the position of postdoc requires that the applicant has a PhD or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the application deadline. Under special circumstances the PhD can have been completed previous to the aforementioned three years.

Terms of employment
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment. A postdoctoral fellow is employed under a period
of at least two years and at most three years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor-2022-02-01” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow, 2022-02-01”)
