Lunds universitet, Naturvetenskapliga fakulteten, kemiska institutionen

Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top universities. The University has around 47 000 students and more than 8 800 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

Work duties
The focus of the research group is to characterize and understand the mechanisms that drive proteins to aggregate, the dynamics in the process and means to interfere with specific steps in the process. The announced position will have a focus on protein expression and purification, isotope labelleing, analysis of protein interactions and dynamics of protein aggregation with methods such as: PICUP, NMR, fluorescence and circular dichroism spectroscopy, etc.

Qualifications

  • The candidate should have a Master of Science in chemistry or equal.
  • The candidate should have several years of experience working in a biochemistry lab.
  • The candidate should be able to communicate, orally and in written text, in English.
  • The candidate should be able to work individually and as part of a group.

Other merits:

  • The candidate would preferably have experience in characterizing electrostatic interactions in proteins, for example characterizing pKa-shifts due to protein self-association, performing and analyzing photo-induced chemical cross-linking of unmodified proteins, studying how chaperons affect the aggregation of proteins, studying protein monomer interactions with protein aggregates using NMR spectroscopy, and studying protein aggregation using optical spectroscopy.
  • The candidate should preferably have sufficient knowledge of the techniques mentioned above to be independent in the operation of these techniques and analysis of data.
  • We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the work within Prof. Sara Linse’s research group, as well as contribute to its future development.
