Work duties and areas of responsibility
The role as assistant researcher mainly consists of leading the work in medical research at the department for Translational Cancer Research. The research project investigates new treatment strategies against disseminated cancer and involves advanced methods for studying tumor cell biology, such as genetic manipulations with CRISPR-Cas9, single cell sequencing, multiplex imaging, and various in vivo models. It also includes analysis of clinical tumor material. Experience in clinical pathology is therefore advantageous as the project consists of examining clinical tumor material. Another important part of the job is writing scientific articles and presenting the scientific findings in articles and at scientific seminars and conferences. The position also includes supervising doctoral students and being responsible for applications and reports.

Qualifications
Requirements for employment are:

  • Medical degree
  • Expertise in tumor biology, experimental pathology, and experimental tumor models
  • Experience with CRISPR-CAS9, single-cell sequencing, and animal models for disseminated cancer
  • >10 years of laboratory experience (including flow cytometry and cell sorting)
  • Very good written and oral skills in English
  • Good ability to work independently and cooperate with others
  • Good ability to drive the work forward and contribute creatively to the project

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  • Experience in clinical pathology
  • Experience planning and organizing meetings
  • Experience in project management
