Description of workplace

The research group Cell Death, Lysosomes and Artificial Intelligence at the Department of Experimental Medical Science within the Faculty of Medicine, today conducts research in cell death, lysosomes and artificial intelligence and is at the forefront of its field.

This by:

  1. Deciphering the molecular machinery of lysosome-dependent cell death and its interactions with other cell death and survival processes
  2. Exploring the role of lysosomes in diseases with altered cell death
  3. Exploring the therapeutic modulation of lysosome-dependent cell death
  4. Exploring interactions between cell death and environmental toxins
  5. Development of new tools and methods to study lysosome-dependent cell death.
  6. Development of AI-based methods for analyzing data in medicine and sustainability

The research group is led by Associate Senior Lecturer Sonja Aits and also includes 2 doctoral students. The group is international and we are now looking for a driven and experienced researcher in cell death, lysosomes and artificial intelligence to support the project.

Duties and areas of responsibility

The research task consists of you independently carrying out and coordinating projects related to cell death, lysosomes and artificial intelligence within the group’s research areas, including also method and tool development. The duties also consist of supervising students in the group and collaborating with other researchers and organizations.

You will also publish articles in scientific journals, contribute to conferences, give lectures and take care of other tasks in the research group (including teaching).

 Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • PhD in biomedicine.
  • Experience in research on lysosomes, cell death and artificial intelligence.
  • Experience in analyzing different types of data that occur in medical and sustainability-related research.
  • Ability to conduct independent research at advanced level.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English.
  • Good analytical ability, drive and good ability to collaborate with other researchers and organizations.
  • Experience in coordinating research in "AI and medicine/life sciences"

Meritorious for the position are:

  • Experience of programming in python
  • Ability to obtain research grants
  • Previous experience of researching similar projects

Scientific skill is the main employment criterion. During the evaluation, research profile, experience and knowledge will be taken into account.

This is a permanent position with an intended start date of January 9, 2023, the scope is full-time.
