Description of the workplace 

At the research group for Neural plasticity and repair, research is conducted in neuroscience. The research has been at the forefront of the field for years. The group is led by Professor Jia-Yi Li and consists of both research and technical staff. The business is located at the Biomedical Center in Lund.

We are hereby looking for a driven associate researcher for work within Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's. The employment is for 20%, limited in time with the desired entry date in January, 2023 or as agreed.

Work duties and responsibilities  

The tasks involve investigating the aggregation of the disease proteins, such as alpha-synuclein and Tau and its prevention. The tasks include investigate the disease protein alpha-synuclein and Tau aggregation and propagation, for example, perform cell culture experiments and data analyses, in models of Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease and search for early targets for intervention.

The candidate will participate in the experimental design, the results analyzes and the scientific report. Other tasks within the research group may also be relevant. 

Qualifications 

Required qualifications:

- PhD in neurobiology or neuroscience.

- Documented expertise in cell models of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases, protein production and aggregation of amyloid proteins in vitro. 

- Knowledge and practical experience of live cell imaging and confocal microscopy.

- Good knowledge of English.

Terms of employment 

Fixed term employment part time 20% for 6 months.
