Description of the workplace
Schmidtchen lab conducts world-leading research in innate immunity and wound healing, and has long-term support from the Swedish Research Council, which in Nov 2020 ranked the project as No. 1 in medicine. The focus for the past 2 decades has been on studies of our innate immunity mechanisms and the development of new therapy concepts for infective-inflammatory diseases – from wound healing to systemic applications. Those who work with the projects in the team include 3 associate professors/senior researchers, technical personnel, and MDs. Collaborations with many external and internal stakeholders are ongoing as well. The therapy concepts are developed in collaboration with biotech companies at Medicon Village, Lund.

Work duties and areas of responsibility
You will work in a dynamic environment with translational projects involving in vivo studies on rodents, using both infection and inflammation models. Standard microbiology, molecular biology, biochemical studies and in vitro cell models will also complement the projects. Reporting and script writing are an important part of the work.
The projects will follow schedules and the ability to deliver on time is a priority. Finally, the work will involve interactions with biotech companies at Medicon Village working on therapy development and clinical trials.

Qualifications
The requirements for the position are:
- MSc in Human Biology 
- PhD in medical sciences
- Knowledge and good experience in in vivo models (rodents) and related analyses such as ELISA, IHC, genotyping.
- Skills in Microsoft package, such as Excel etc, and Prism.

Additional qualifications for the position are:
- In vivo course FELASA
- In vivo courses, such as FELASA
- Be able to handle multiple projects in a multicultural environment
- Previous publications translational medicine and drug development
- Previous experience of work or collaborations with biotech

Further information
The employment is a fixed-term employment (SÄVA) full-time for 8 months.
Desired first day of emplyment is February 1, 2023, or as agreed.
