LUNARC is a center at Lund University that provides services for high-performance computing (HPC), visualization and storage. LUNARC collaborates with research groups and offers this expertise and courses in scientific computation, visualization, and efficient use of these resources. LUNARC currently operates several computing and visualization resources with associated storage. To increase the usability of these resources, an interactive HPC service (remote desktop environment) with hardware-accelerated graphics has been developed. This service can provide customized environments for different research groups.
LUNARC employees have expertise in many areas, enabling us to support our researchers in many ways, from hardware-, visualization-, storage- and development projects. We collaborate with several research groups and infrastructures, such as MAX IV and Bioinformatics. Keeping up to date with technology is essential and at LUNARC, employees are offered both internal and external training opportunities.
LUNARC currently has 13 employees consisting of systems engineers, application experts, and developers. LUNARC is a division within the Department of Construction Sciences at LTH but is a shared LU resource. Based on our needs to expand the organization, LUNARC will, at the turn of the year 2022/2023, move the office to newly renovated premises with a hardware/visualization lab, comfortable meeting and lounge areas, and staff spaces.

The appointment is part of a more significant investment in high-performance computing, storage, and visualization around the new computing resource COSMOS, which will be installed in early 2023.
Application experts link researchers to the computing-, storage- and visualization resources that LUNARC provides. The service includes helping the researcher to use the resources in an efficient and straightforward way. This can, for example, mean installing and optimizing software that researchers need on the resources. The application expert can also help researchers develop the computational software as well as develop their workflows around LUNARC's resources.

Basic qualifications for the position are those who have completed a Ph.D (or similar degree). in numerical analysis, computer science, image analysis, physics, or a related discipline.
