 Work assignments and responsibilities

The holder of this position will mainly work on a research project pertaining to the development of bioinformatic pipelines to analyse computationally large datasets related to lung disease and regeneration. Our group has generated a number of unique datasets using transcriptomic, proteomic, and imaging based datasets from different lung tissues as well as through ex vivo 3D models for techniques for lung tissue regeneration and transplantation, using a combination of ex vivo and in vivo approaches.

The main work responsibilities involve designing and conducting research pertaining to the project and includes obtaining, analysing and developing ways to manage and store data acquired for the project. Further, the holder of this position will be responsible for writing of high quality, academic papers to be submitted to international journals and submitting both independent grants and contributing to grant writing for the group. The majority of this work should be done independently and in collaboration with both internal and external members of the team. The position also entails some teaching and mentoring of doctoral, masters, bachelor and medical students.

  • Ability to carry out independent and high-quality research as documented through the thesis and peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience with handling large data (omics and image based) and analysis, including programming in R and different statistical models
  • Experience with both hands-on development and usage of 3D models for studying lung disease and regeneration as well as development of bioinformatic pipelines for analysing them

  • Experience in mentoring and/or supervision

In addition to the above qualifications, the desired qualifications are as follows:

  • Background in lung biology
  • Experience with standard cell and molecular biology techniques
  • Experience with in vivo animal models for lung disease
  • Experience with organoid culture
  • Experience with state-of-the-art ex vivo imaging techniques for lung tissue, including light sheet fluorescence microscopy
