Work duties
The candidate will be involved in a project investigating self-organisation and collective behaviour in animal groups. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing and modelling the movement and interactions of fishes in schools. This will involve working with trajectory data to quantify movement strategies and social interactions of individuals within groups. The work will be entirely computationally focused and would suit someone with demonstrable experience in trajectory or motion analyzes. The work would involve communicating findings with experimental biologists to inform new analytical approaches. There is the potential for the candidate to work remotely, with regular online meetings between researchers working at Lund and Cambridge Universities. 

Qualifications 

  • PhD in biology, computer science, engineering, physics, or applied mathematics.
  • Experience in analyzing or modelling animal movement with agent-based models.
  • Knowledge of model fitting, signal processing, computer vision and tracking.
     

Other merits

  • Excellent skills in computer programming / coding / data analysis / modelling (e.g. R, Python, Matlab)

  • An ability to disseminate work and produce quality publications
  • Experience with statistical analyzes and model fitting

Terms of employment 
This is a Fixed-Term full time contract for 1 year .The position is available as soon as possible. There is the possibility for working remote.
