Your team
The ICT Electronics team works with electronics interfacing the control system and the facility is dependent on them to be able to run. The electronics ranges from motors and motion systems, timing and triggering, current and voltage readout as well as synchronization between them all. The team both develops and buys commercial systems and when they are in operation, we make sure that they are able to acquire the signals needed for the experiments to be successful.

Your main work tasks will be

Updating a diagnose tool using python and Qt. The goal is to increase the capability of the diagnostic tool for our stepper motion system by introduce time to frequency conversion of sampled data together with other predefined needed data such as full with half maximum of position noise and drift. With this capability, longer stability measurements are possible to be automated. The diagnose tool is used to tune and characterize motors in the facility. We are running about 1700 motors continuously and are dependent on this tool for everyday work.

To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

An interest for electronics and programming of electronics.
At least one year of studies at a university level, preferably on an electronics or software program, or similar.
Dependent on your background, more focus could be put on one task than the other.

As a person you are curious and not afraid of asking a question if something is unclear. You will be facing a complex environment and new friends and hence hopefully loves a challenge.

You must be minimum 18 years and fluent in English to apply to this position.

MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research infrastructure hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden and abroad, with intense x-rays and state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Its 16 beamlines receive up to 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-rays.

The ICT teams at MAX IV are placed under the Technical Division and deliver solutions to the whole MAX IV organisation in the areas of electronics, software, infrastructure and scientific data. This is a dynamic and highly challenging environment and requires close collaboration with the beamline staff in order to understand the needs and be effective in forming solutions. We are around 50 people in total who work in 4 domains in a well-organised and agile way. We hold values of lean management, knowledge spread, user autonomy, continuous improvement and flexibility as guiding principles for our work.
