Description of the workplace

The myeloma group within the Department of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine at the Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of two associate professors, 4 doctoral students and a part-time laboratory technician.

Our main goal is to improve the outcome of the painful and fatal tumor disease multiple myeloma (MM). To do this, we conduct three lines of research; i) use investigator-initiated clinical trials to test preventive strategies and ii) test new drug combinations in clinical trials and iii) investigate phagocyte subsets and functions during treatment and progression of MM.

Duties and areas of responsibility

As a researcher with us, you will independently conduct research in the research area of hematology and particularly focus on multiple myeloma. You will conduct clinical trials and develop strategies and methods for the treatment of MM.

You will also publish articles in scientific journals, contribute to conferences and assist in other tasks in the aforementioned research area.

You will have special responsibility for supervising 3 doctoral students within the myeloma group.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who meets the following requirements.

Requirements for the position are:

  • Doctoral degree in medicine with a focus on hematology or a related field
  • Very good research experience in myeloma research
  • Docent competence in hematology
  • Doctor with specialist competence in Hematology and good knowledge of Swedish.
  • Ability to conduct independent research at advanced level.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English.
  • Good analytical skills, drive and good ability to collaborate.

Merited are:

  • Experience of doctoral supervision
  • Experience of clinical trials
  • Previous experience of researching similar projects.

Scientific skill is the main employment criterion. During the evaluation, research profile, experience and knowledge will be taken into account.

The employment is a permanent employment with the extent of 10 percent of full time with addition as soon as possible or as agreed. Probationary employment may be applied.
