Description of the workplace and subject

Lund University is the only university in northern Europe offering teaching in the subject of Romanian. The main area, Romanian, at the Centre for Languages and Literature, includes education in the subject’s language, literature, film and culture, mostly at first-cycle level. Romanian is also one of several languages in the Bachelor’s programme in European Studies.

Work duties

We are seeking an accomplished lecturer to deliver teaching within the framework of our education in Romanian in the first cycle, which includes written and oral proficiency, literature and area studies. The successful applicant is to be genuinely interested in developing the subject in collaboration with other subjects, and in interaction with wider society. Work duties for the position include teaching, the development of Romanian’s current course offer and the development of new courses. Teaching will be primarily delivered on the beginner’s and introductory courses in Romanian, which comprise grammar and oral and written proficiency, as well as Romanian literature and culture. In the written elements, contrastive grammar (Swedish – Romanian) and vocabulary have an important role. There is also a need to develop new courses in Swedish about Romanian society. The applicant is therefore to possess very good knowledge of both Swedish and Romanian. We attach great importance to the new lecturer’s collaborative and organisational skills.
