Description of the work place
Lund University is looking for an image processing, analysis and visualization expert. The position involves coordinating activities for the research infrastructures InfraVis and CIPA, as well as to act as a Cross Border Innovation and Research (CBIR) Ambassador in the HALRIC project. The working tasks include developing collaborations with and around research infrastructures, as well as interacting with external stakeholders, both within and outside academia. The host unit for the employment will be Antigen Presentation at Experimental Medical Science.
InfraVis is a Swedish national infrastructure that provides visualization services on research data from any scientific domain. InfraVis is funded by the Swedish Research Council and Lund University is one of the nine Swedish universities forming the consortium.
The research infrastructure for Correlative Image Processing and Analysis (CIPA) aims at reducing the gap between the amount of acquired and consequently analysed images. CIPA is a local research infrastructure but also the coordinating unit for InfraVis at Lund University.
The HALRIC project’s aim is to further develop the research and innovation in life science by increased use of research infrastructures. As one of the HALRIC CBIR ambassadors you will work in close collaboration with research infrastructures, HALRIC ambassadors, coordinators, as well as industry and hospitals.
The position is a permanent position full time (100%). Probationary employment might be applied. Desired start date is June 1st or by agreement.

Work duties and areas of responsibility
Your work duties and areas of responsibilities will include daily operations management and coordination of the research infrastructure CIPA and InfraVis, as well as serving as an application expert in image processing, analysis, and visualization.
Tasks in CIPA and InfraVis
- Coordinate project management activities, resources, equipment, and information with the stake holders.
- Monitor project progress and handle any issues that arise.
- Present and represent the infrastructure platforms during conferences and workshops.
- Document, evaluate and report on the progress of the infrastructure platforms.
- Carry out support in image processing, analysis and visualization for users of the infrastructure platforms.
In the HALRIC project you will act as the Swedish ambassador to promote formation of cross-border teams taking advantage of the unique research infrastructure in the Hamburg-ÖKS area. You will disseminate and collect information, define needs of what techniques and challenges that the Life Science sector would like to have access to, provide information on the relevant Research Infrastructures, matchmake and encourage dialogue through e.g., workshops.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
PhD Degree in relevant field. Practical experience in image processing, analysis and visualisation, i.e., in 2D, 3D and 4D. Experience in application support in areas relevant to the position. Experience in supporting users/collaborators and in developing collaborations with external parties such as industry. A minimum of five years of post doctoral experience. Previous work with projects or initiatives about research infrastructures. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office software package. Understanding of the workflow for experiments carried out at research infrastructures such as synchrotron and neutron facilities. Good English presentation ability in speech and writing.
