Tasks
As an SI leader, you will regularly arrange meetings where you lead student groups on your subject according to the usual SI methodology. The purpose of the SI sessions is for the student group to discuss the concepts and questions of the subject and together come up with answers and solutions. Students learn to see each other as learning resources and are trained in collaborative learning.

The SI leader’s task is to lead the students and structure the SI sessions so that these run efficiently. The SI leader should not teach or present any new material, as the group should together process the contents of the course, already presented by the teachers. The SI leader acts as a support and sounding board in this process.

The duties for this position include, more specifically:

  1. on average 1 time/week (plus three hours to prepare) and lead an SI session in the subject communication and media, after completion of the SI leadership training 
  2. register and report attendance at each SI session
  3. write a reflective report after each SI session
  4. schedule your own SI sessions and assist with SI administration
  5. participate in SI tutorials when offered
  6. other duties at the department may also occur

Eligible for employment
As an teaching assistant/SI leader you are required to be accepted into education on an undergraduate or advanced level at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Qualifications
Eligible to be employed as teachig assistant is anyone who is actively pursuing studies at the undergraduate or advanced level at the relevant faculty and who has not yet obtained their degree.

Requirements for employment are that you:

•    studying an education at the Faculty of Social Sciences
•    has very good knowledge of Swedish and/or English, in speech and writing
•    you have good study results and you are in phase with your studies
•    you are responsible, flexible and prepared to adapt to the needs of the student group
•    you can easily collaborate with others and are self-motivated

Meritorious for the position is that you:

•    are interested in pedagogy, group dynamics and leadership
•    have leadership experience (in, for example, sports, the scouting movement or similar)

Other
The employment begins 2023-08-21 – 2023-01-14  and is a fixed term employment of 10% of a full time equivalent. The employment may not negatively affect the teachin assistent studies and may not be combined with other employment. Provisions regarding educational employment as amanuens can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), ch. 5 §§ 8-12.

The employment is covered by the flextime agreement.
