We research all aspects of human health: prevention, treatment, care and rehabilitation. We operate in Malmö and Lund and are closely linked to healthcare provided by Skåne University Hospital, primary care and municipalities.

Position

Are you highly motivated, well acquainted with various teaching methods, and possess documented experience in research and clinical practice?

We are now looking for two senior lecturers with expertise in nursing for permanent employment. The positions are at the Department of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Lund University.

Work duties

As a senior lecturer, your duties include teaching, conducting your own research and collaborating with wider society.

Senior lecturers are expected to establish, develop and conduct research of high academic quality in the health sciences, attract external funding and support early-career researchers in the health sciences. Furthermore, communicating research results to the wider community is an important part of your work.

Teaching activities are mainly at first and second-cycle levels as part of the Faculty of Medicine’s study programmes. Teaching in collaboration with other disciplines within medical and health sciences courses and study programmes is an important element. You are also expected to participate in third-cycle education, including supervising doctoral students. Other duties normally part of a senior lecturer’s position include administrative tasks and internal and external elected office.

Other duties may also arise.

Qualification requirements

In accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4 Section 4, a person is eligible for appointment as a senior lecturer if they have demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD in a subject of relevance to the position.

Completed training in teaching and learning in higher education of at least five weeks or the possession of equivalent knowledge acquired in another way is a requirement for appointment as a senior lecturer. If exceptional circumstances apply, the appointee may complete the required training in teaching and learning in higher education within the first two years of employment to fulfil the requirement (see the Lund University Appointment Rules).

The applicant must be a registered nurse with documented research in nursing and have experience teaching in a relevant field. A specialist nursing degree and clinical experience are desirable.

Assessment criteria

The applicant must have demonstrated research and teaching expertise of significance for the subject. During the assessment, particular weight will be accorded to research expertise.

  • In the assessment of research expertise, applicants must demonstrate current research at a high level in the field and have in-depth knowledge of the subject as a whole. The applicant must be able to show publications at a high level, where the applicant is the lead author and senior author. Having applied for and obtained funding in national or international competition is desirable. Qualifications of an associate professor and postdoctoral experience at a university other than the one where the applicant obtained their PhD are also desirable.
  • In the assessment of qualifications, teaching expertise in nursing will be given particular weight. The applicant is to demonstrate good ability to plan, develop and conduct teaching and supervision at the first, second and third-cycle levels. The ability to translate clinical expertise into teaching components is desirable.
  • The applicant is to demonstrate leadership ability, good ability to collaborate in research projects and teaching activities, and to engage with wider society. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

The applicant is to have command of Swedish or another Scandinavian language (Norwegian or Danish) to be able to teach in the first and second cycles and participate in the administrative duties of the University. In addition to the general qualification requirements, teaching staff at Lund University are required to be suitable for, and have the other skills needed, to perform their duties well.
