The Faculty of Law is hiring a researcher assistant in International Law.

According to Chapter 5, Section 10 HF, only those who have been admitted to first or second cycle education can be employed as amanuensis.

Work duties and responsibilities 

The research assistant will assist Associate Professor Valentin Jeutner with a large variety of research and administrative tasks. 

With respect to research assistance, tasks will include proof-reading, copy-editing, and the drafting of academic texts. This will require excellent English skills and a meticulous attention to detail.

The research assistant will also be expected to carry out in-depth research tasks – often with reference to historical and archival materials, foreign-language materials and non-traditional legal materials (newspaper articles, letters, photographs, movies, texts from other disciplines). This will require the ability to navigate numerous research databases and perseverance in order to locate and procure relevant documents. 

The research assistant will also assist with the visual communication of research findings. This might include assistance with the creation and/or drafting of the layout of books, the editing of photographs and of scanned documents. This will require the possession of/or the preparedness to quickly acquire graphic design skills. 

With respect to administrative tasks, the research assistant will support the administration of the QSHIFT research programme on technological decision-making. This includes making arrangements for guest speakers, supporting the hosting of events in Lund and communicating with the QSHIFT partners in Germany, Switzerland and Denmark. This will require good communication and management skills.

The research assistant will also assist with administrative and creative tasks concerning the establishment of a Museum of International Law. This will require creative thinking and good team-working skills. 

Qualifications 

You may apply for this position if you are a student of one of the two master programmes of the Faculty of Law in Lund or if you are studying at the advanced level of the Swedish law programme at the Faculty of Law in Lund.

Conditions

The appointment is limited in time during the period 2023-05-15 or according to agreement to 2023-12-31 and is for 20% of full-time. 

The employment may not adversely affect the amanuensis's studies and may not be combined with other employment. Provisions regarding educational employment as an amanuensis can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), Chapter 5, sections 8-12. 

The employment is covered by the flextime agreement.

The position encompasses in the first instance 20% FTE. An increase of up to 30% FTE is possible if deemed desirable by both parties.
