As Archeology is organized in Lund, it primarily includes the study of prehistoric man's material culture, living conditions and social formations, the relationship to the natural environment and the contact between societies. An essential part of the study is the comparison of different materials from different cultures within and outside the Nordic area. This entails a long-term perspective which is also of great importance for the assessment of many contemporary problems and developments. The focus in research and teaching is on theory, method, field archeology and period studies including the Stone Age up to and including the Viking Age in a European context
Lund University is a public authority which means that employees get particular benefits, generous annual leave and an advantageous occupational pension scheme.
