Description of the workplace

The Clinical Epidemiology Unit is an interdisciplinary research group whose research focuses on osteoarthritis, a joint disease. The group consists of around 20 persons with expertise in medicine, physiotherapy, laboratory engineering, molecular research, bioinformatics, and statistics. The group works closely with the Molecular Skeletal Biology division at the BMC, has laboratory space within BMC, and office space in Wigerthuset, Lund. Job responsibilities

  • Working on grant applications for both national and international funding agencies
  • Project coordination within laboratory research, including biobank administration practical support with sample handling, development of project ideas, etc.
  • Language editing of manuscripts
  • Development of research-related documents such as ethics applications, material transfer agreements, etc.
  • Coordination of scientific projects, including contact with funding agencies, collaborators, and authorities
  • Maintenance of the research group's website and social media

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree in a biomedical research field, such as biotechnology, cell/molecular biology, biochemistry, or similar (or equivalent work experience that the employer deems equivalent)
  • Excellent spoken and written proficiency in English and Swedish
  • Experience in writing scientific grant applications
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment
  • Good communication skills in speech and writing, as well as layout

Other merits

  • Medical or health science degree
  • Experience in project management/coordination, especially in preclinical research
  • Knowledge and understanding of laboratory techniques such as mass spectrometry, histology, imaging, transcriptomics, etc.
  • Good computer skills, especially in text and graphic design and basic data management
  • Analytical skills and problem-solving
  • Being independent, proactive, organized, and meticulous
  • Curiosity about new methods and research questions

The position is permanent and begins on September 1st, 2023, or as agreed. Probationary employment is applied.

The Department of Clinical Sciences Lund (IKVL) is one of six departments at the Faculty of Medicine. The department has broad collaborations, both within the medical faculty and with other faculties at the university. IKVL also has a well-developed collaboration with Skåne University Hospital (SUS) and Region Skåne, as well as the surrounding region and its private sector. This promotes clinical and experimental translational research, development, and education.
