The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts is one of eight faculties within Lund University and includes Malmö Art Academy, Malmö Academy of Music and Malmö Theatre Academy, also Inter Arts Center and Choral Centre South. The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts offers Bachelor and Master programs in visual art, music and drama, and various courses of different extent. The Faculty also runs third cycle (postgraduate) studies in artistic research and music education.

The Malmö Academy of Music is now looking for a senior lecturer in artistic research in music with a focus on music drama at the Musician and Church Musician Programmes. The scope of employment is 50% of full-time and a permanent position starting 2023-10-01.

Duties
The subject area of the position is Artistic research in music with a focus on music drama. The main tasks are planning and implementation of supervision and examination of degree projects and graduation concerts. Teaching in singing, stage performance and music dramatic theory may also be included. Teaching is conducted both individually and in groups. You are expected to conduct your work in close collaboration with colleagues.

The position includes conducting research/artistic development work, as well as certain administrative tasks linked to the subject area. The duties also include planning and implementing projects, masterclasses, and guest teacher visits in the subject area.

You are expected to collaborate actively with colleagues outside the School of Music in the subject and operational area, for example by taking the initiative to plan and to collaborate with activities within and outside the university. 

Eligibility
To be eligible for employment as Senior Lecturer in Artistic Research in Music, you must have demonstrated high artistic and other professional skills of importance with regard to the subject content of the position and the duties included in the employment. You must also have demonstrated teaching skills. The position requires that you have at least five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education, or have acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way. If special reasons exist, the person employed can complete the training during the first two years.

You must be professionally active at a high artistic level and have a clear artistic profile. You have basic degrees from musician education or other higher education in music. You have a PhD in artistic research in music. Good knowledge of Swedish and English is also required.

Assessment criteria
We attach great importance to the fact that you have a well-profiled artistry at a high level and that this has a clear relationship to your research activities. We also attach importance to your teaching ability, which means a good ability to conduct, develop and lead supervision, teaching and other educational activities. Furthermore, your ability to participate in the supervision of students of the Musician and Church Music Programme to artistic independence and your ability to interact with the surrounding society are assessed. A broad network in artistic and/or scientific activities, preferably in the field of music and performing arts, is a merit. Documented leadership experience is also a merit.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how you through your experience and skills complement and strengthen the subject area within the department, as well as contribute to its future development.
