Graduate School

Graduate School is an administrative section located at the Faculty of Social Sciences which organizes interdepartmental and interdisciplinary international master's programmes and independent courses at advanced level. Graduate School is an interdisciplinary, international environment with committed employees, teachers from different parts of the university as well as international and national students.

Work duties and areas of responsibility

Main duties:

- Staffing of the student reception

- Managing Graduate School's shared mailbox

- Answering general student-related questions, both at the reception and by email

- Issuing and managing certificates for Graduate School students

- Creating and publishing content in Graduate School's social media channels

- Temporary support and help at student events

- If necessary, helping with other administrative tasks

Additional duties may be added and your duties may vary during the year, depending on current needs. During the summer, the work mainly consists of monitoring and answering incoming mail. The reception is open three hours, three times a week during term time. You are two receptionists who divide the work shifts between you.

Qualifications

Requirements for employment are:

  • You are admitted to, and in your first year of one of the Graduate School programmes:

Master of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies, Master of Science in Development Studies, Master of Science in Global Studies, Master of Science in Social Scientific Data Analysis, Master of Science in Social Studies of Gender

  • You are on track with your studies

We are looking for someone who is communicative, structured and service-oriented and can work independently and take your own initiative.

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  • Experience of working in the service sector
  • Experience of working at Lund University or another university/college

Further information

We are looking for one student receptionists for temporary employments, 12 % for a maximum of 12 months starting according to agreement. Applicants need to be admitted to education at Graduate School during the entire employment period. The employment as a teaching assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), 5 chapter 8-12 §§. The employment must not unfavorably affect the studies of the teaching assistant.
