Description of the workplace
We are looking for an independent self-motivated assistant researcher with a strong interest in translational cancer research. The study is a continuation of our recent projects to understand the molecular mechanisms of therapy resistance in acute leukemia (Lindblad et.al. Oncogene. 2016 Sep 29;35(39):5119-31, Shah et.al. NPJ Precis Oncol. 2021 Feb 17;5(1):13). The successful applicant must have a solid background in cancer research, primary cell culture and/or complex cell culture systems, and mouse models.
The laboratory is located at Medicon Village in the university city of Lund.

Work duties and areas of responsibility
You will be responsible for animal handling including IV injections, tumor isolation, imaging, modeling leukemia, and handling patient-derived xenografts. Additional responsibilities include general lab work such as primary leukemia cell culture, reagent preparation, western blotting, and other biochemical assays. You are also responsible for data collection, analysis, presentation, and writing research articles, and the division may assign some general organizational duties.

Qualifications
Requirements for employment are:

  • The PhD degree should be in a preclinical subject with proven proficiency in mouse handling and primary cell culture.
  • Experience in cancer biology and cellular signaling.
  • Applicants must have the ability to design and execute experiments independently and to develop new methodologies.
  • Good communication skills and good knowledge of English are required.

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  • Knowledge of handling patient materials and patient-derived xenografts is not required but advantageous.
  • Research experience in acute leukemia is a plus.

Further information

The position is a fixed term position for 12 months at 100 percent of full time and starting on November 01, 2023 or according to agreement.
