Description of the workplace
SI-PASS (Supplementary Instruction / Peer Assisted Study Sessions) is a very successful educational model developed in the United States during the 1970s and has spread to many universities across the world, including many universities and higher education institutions in Sweden. The European Centre for SI-PASS at Lund University is one of five centers in the world responsible for information, evaluation, and training of university staff in the SI-PASS model in Europe.
As an SI-leader for the Master’s Programme in Applied Cultural Analysis you are employed at the Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences, which is part of the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology, and you will receive your SI leader training from the European Centre for SI-PASS. You will work closely with teachers and those responsible for the SI-Programme within the department, as well as with other SI-leaders within and outside of your field.

Work duties and responsibilities
The Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences are looking for 1 SI-leader in the courses of the Master’s Programme in Applied Cultural Analysis (Term 1), during the period of 2023-08-28 – 2024-01-14.
As an SI-leader you will meet with the students regularly (on average once a week) in study groups, using SI methodology. You are there as an experienced student who has previously taken the course and act as a role model and facilitator, but not as a teacher.
Your task as an SI-leader is to guide the students and structure the SI sessions to provide a good active learning opportunity. You are there to help the students to sort out, and shed light on the components of the courses that are experienced as challenging, and to act as the leader of learning activities and moderator in discussions. As an SI-leader you are there to encourage the students to find answers to their questions together and help them to work effectively and purposefully in the group.

Qualification requirements
Eligible to be employed as teaching assistant is anyone who is actively pursuing studies at the undergraduate or advanced level at the relevant faculty and who has not yet obtained their degree.
Required qualifications:
Other prerequisite for your employment is that you attend the two-day SI training which is offered in August and/or September. You will be invited to the training in connection with your employment.
Additional requirements:
You have very good results in the courses of the MACA-programme. You have worked as an SI-leader before. You have leadership experience (for example in sports and the scouting movement). You cooperate well with others. You are also able to work independently. You have been recommended by your SI-leader or a teacher of the MACA-programme. You have an interest in pedagogy, group dynamics and leadership.
Considerations will be taken to how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing work within the SI organization, and how they stand to contribute to its future development. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
Further information
An employment as a teaching assistant may correspond to a maximum of 50% of a full-time employment. The total period of employment may not exceed 3 years. This is a fixed term employment which is limited to the period 2023-08-28 – 2024-01-14 and is 10 % of a full time equivalent. The employment must not unfavorably affect the studies of the teaching assistant. Regulations regarding educational employment such as teaching assistants can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance HF, Chapter 5, Sections 8-12.

Attach excerpts from LADOK which shows that you are up to date with the studies and that you have passed the course on which you want to be an SI leader (clearly state in your application which course and/or programme you wish to become an SI leader on).
