Work duties

The researcher will work in the project INVISMO – A new framework for predicting the habitat of pollinators – funded by the Swedish Research Council. The project investigates the role that insect vision (primarily bees and butterflies) plays in their habitat choices and what consequences this may have for how their occurrence is affected by habitat changes. The interdisciplinary project group includes expertise in landscape ecology, sensory biology, molecular systematics and macroecology. We are now looking for a researcher with expertise in landscape ecology who will carry out research in collaboration with other members of the project and research group.

The researcher will analyze the outcome of field studies carried out on questions identified as particularly interesting in the first phase of the project. The work includes statistical analysis of data collected in the project, and production of scientific publications on behalf of the project. The researcher is expected to actively contribute to the overall scientific dialogue in the research group and take the initiative to collaborate with other group members on further research issues.

Qualifications

  • Completed doctoral degree in ecology, biology, or a related subject
  • Documented knowledge of landscape ecology
  • Documented knowledge of pollinator ecology
  • Good abilities in statistical analysis
  • Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written
  • Documented ability to produce and publish high quality research

Other merits

  • Knowledge about and experience of working with pollinator sensory ecology and habitat selection

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Consideration will also be given to e.g. good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the administrative work within the unit/department, as well as contribute to its future development.
