Work duties
The Department of Sociology is looking for a project assistant for a one-year position as part of Show & Tell, an ERC-funded research project investigating new kinds of visual evidence as they move between epistemic cultures and professional communities. How do scientists use new kinds of imagery to show what they know? Images like brain scans and botanical illustrations are central to scientific practice. But today, accessible technologies can create lifelike algorithmically generated images – photo-like pictures made through the manipulation of digital data. These new kinds of images have introduced distinctive challenges to our ability to trust the things we can see with our own eyes. The project investigates what happens when new kinds of visual evidence move between epistemic cultures and professional communities, with an empirical focus on photo-like algorithmically generated images. For more information about the project see https://www.showandtell.lu.se
