Description of the work place

At the research group for Respiratory Cell Biology, research is conducted on chronic respiratory diseases. For several years, the research has been at the forefront of the mast cell field, where we use mast cells and their mediators as well as epithelial cell lines and primary epithelial cells from the lung to create and study in vitro models of mast cell interaction with the airway epithelium. Our focus is to study these interactions through different imaging techniques such as live cell imaging. The group is led by university lecturer Cecilia Andersson and consists of two PhD students. The research group is located at the Biomedical Center in Lund. Here you can read more about our exciting research (Respiratory Cell Biology — Lund University).

We are now looking for a research engineer in respiratory cell biology. The position is a full time fixed term employment for three months with desired start date 2023-09-08 or according to agreement.

The current methods concern histological methods, establishment of primary cell cultures and co-culture models from patients with respiratory diseases. The project has major focus on work with techniques within the "live-cell imaging" field. Other work duties within the research group may arise.

Qualifications

- Work with mast cells in vitro and mast cell proteases

- Differentiation of primary epithelial cells and air liquid interface (ALI) cultures

- Good ability to present research in speech and writing

- Good scientific ability to plan and analyze experiments

 Experience with the following techniques:

- High throughput imaging analysis

- Western blot
