The position of a research assistant is placed at the Department of Chemistry, Division of Biotechnology. The Division conducts research and education at undergraduate and graduate level in various areas of biotechnology such as industrial biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, and biotechnology for health. The research includes studies of a fundamental nature as well as pure biotechnological applications. Within industrial biotechnology, the Division conducts several multidisciplinary projects in collaboration with other research and industrial partners, which involve the development and optimization of microorganisms and enzymes as well as processes for the transformation of renewable raw materials into chemical building blocks for sustainable chemicals and plastics adapted said to circular economy.
As a research assistant, your tasks can vary and the tasks should give an insight into the academic world at the faculty where you are studying. The employment as a teaching assistant concerns participation in research projects STEPS and UPLIFT and involves the development of a microbial process for the synthesis and purification of bio-based plastic monomer.

Only those admitted to first or second-cycle courses and study programmes at the faculty may be employed as teaching assistants. The degree must not have been taken.

The position is a fixed term position for the period 20230915 - 20240514 at 50 percent of full time. The employment as a Teaching Assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), 5 chapter 8-12 §§. This teaching assistant is covered by the flexitime agreement.
